For your information, it's useful to know that the majority of the cPanel Hosting offers on the present-day web hosting market are provided by a very insubstantial business segment (as far as annual money flow is concerned) named hosting reseller. Reseller website hosting is a type of a small-scale marketing niche, which provides an immense quantity of different web hosting brands, yet offering the very same services: mostly cPanel web hosting solutions. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because of the fact that at least 98 percent of the web hosting offerings on the entire website hosting market provide precisely the same service: cPanel. There's no difference at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting prices are alike. Very much alike. Giving those who demand a top web hosting service almost no other web hosting platform/CP choice. So, there is simply one fact: out of more than 200,000 website hosting brands all over the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than two percent! Less than two percent, mind that one...

200,000 "Hosting suppliers", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely branded

The Hosting "variety" and the website hosting "offers" Google reveals to all of us boil down to just one and the same thing: cPanel. Under 100's of 1000's of different web hosting trademarked names. Assume you are just a regular guy who's not very well aware of (as the majority of us) with the web page development processes and the website hosting platforms, which actually power the respective domains and web sites. Are you ready to make your hosting decision? Is there any website hosting variant you can select? Sure there is, today there are more than 200k web hosting firms out there. Officially. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these more than two hundred thousand unique web hosting brands around the world will offer you absolutely the same cPanel website hosting CP and platform, dubbed differently, with the same price tags! WOW! That's how huge the assortment on the present-day website hosting marketplace is... Period.

The Hosting LOTTO we are all participating in

Simple arithmetic demonstrates that to encounter a non-cPanel based web hosting supplier is a great strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in 50 chance that something like that will happen! Less than one in fifty...

The pluses and minuses of the cPanel-based Hosting solution

Let's not be cruel with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was trendy and presumably met most website hosting market prerequisites. To cut a long story short, cPanel can achieve the desired result if you have only one single domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Disadvantage Number One: An imbecilic domain name folder structure

If you have 2 or more domain names, however, be extremely careful not to delete completely the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will call each new hosted domain name, which is not the default one: an add-on domain name). The files of the add-on domains are quite simple to delete on the hosting server, since they all are set up into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the quite famous public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to erase the files of the add-on domains, please. Observe for yourself how fabulous cPanel's domain folder structure is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is situated)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you growing baffled? We undoubtedly are!

Weakness No.2: The very same mail folder arrangement

The electronic mail folder arrangement on the web hosting server is exactly the same as that of the domain names... Making the very same mistake twice?!? The admin guys strongly strengthen their belief in God when tackling the email folders on the mail server, hoping not to muck things up too badly.

Weakness No.3: An utter shortage of domain name manipulation tools

Do we have to refer to the utter lack of a modern domain manipulation platform - a place where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or administer domain names, edit domain names' Whois details, shield the Whois info, alter/set up nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not provide such a "modern" section at all. That's an enormous downside. An unforgivable one, we wish to point out...

Downside Number 4: Many user login locations (min two, maximum three)

What about the demand for an additional login to use the invoice transaction, domain and technical support management GUI? That's aside from the cPanel login credentials you've been already supplied by the cPanel-based Hosting corporation. Sometimes, based on the billing system (particularly developed for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting distributor is using, the avid users can end up with 2 extra logins (1: the billing transaction/domain administration system; 2: the trouble ticket support GUI), winding up with an aggregate of three user login places (including cPanel).

Weak Side Number 5: More than 120 web hosting Control Panel areas to get acquainted with... promptly

cPanel presents for your consideration more than a hundred and twenty sections inside the hosting Control Panel. It's a terrific idea to get familiar with each one of them. And you'd better learn them quickly... That's extremely impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting service providers:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Mind that one too...
